Post 1: The good old blogging times... are back!

I used to own a blog on Blogger in the early 2000s. During that time, I developed a passion for Amigurumi and making cloth dolls and toys. My blog mainly revolved around this, but I also used it as a diary to write about anything that came to mind.

Some of my posts only consisted of photos, which had poor quality and were edited using free online tools or Paint. As a result, the decorations were often out of place. Other times, I would share tutorials or highlight interesting places, such as libraries and stores, where I found materials and books. I also occasionally shared more personal content about my holidays, funny things my pets did, and random thoughts and feelings.
Without even realizing it, I became a part of a beautiful community of creators who, like me, had amazing skills but no one to share them with. We shared our work, ideas, knowledge, and amazing creations.

Sharing feels different now than it did back then. Were we more naive in the past? Are we now more aware of the potential dangers of the internet, or has the internet simply become more professional and we underestimate ourselves? Is the perception that life was better "back in the day" just a common belief or is the world actually getting worse?

I hate hearing myself say that everything was better in the past like a grumpy old grandpa, but I do feel that we posted more freely back then. We didn’t think about it too much, perfectionism wasn’t even a word we thought of, and things didn’t have to be perfect. Believe me, my old blog was terrible! It had every color and sparkle I could add to it. I’ve tried to recover it or find print screens of it, but it’s all gone… I did treasure some pictures from the bottom of Google Photos! You can see some of those pictures at the beginning of this post :)

If you had a blog in the early 2000s and experienced something similar, I encourage you to start one again! Apart from the business-related benefits such as getting more traffic, generating leads, and engaging the audience, there are personal benefits that we can take advantage of, such as connecting with new people, sharing a passion, learning, improving writing skills, and improving a second language. Blogging can give you freedom!

Personally, this space is going to be just a place to share with no filters, no rules, no perfectionism, and no algorithms. A virtual diary and sharing space.

:) See you in next post!
